Australia is known for its undulating charm. But did you know Indians have voted for Australia as its favourite destination in the world? It happened when readers of two of country’s leading travel publications presented top honors to Australia. The recently announced Lonely Planet Travel Awards 2013 placed Australia at number one position as ‘India’s Favorite Destination’. Australia also bagged the award for the ‘Best Leisure Destination (World)’ at the India’s Best Awards 2012 announced by Travel + Leisure India and South Asia. Last year, Tourism Australia has delivered a successful brand campaign ‘There’s Nothing Like Australia’, which attracted travellers, including families and honeymooning couple to the kangaroo land. Commenting on the achievement, Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager – India, Tourism Australia said, “We are very pleased to receive these awards, it is a testament that Indian travellers believe Australia delivers the best leisure experiences.”
